How have been considered maternity and parenthood in the past and how are they at present, looking at the new forms they can assume today? Alongside the more traditional forms, it is possible to observe different ways of realizing and living maternity, fatherhood and parenthood, focused not only on the biological and genetic dimensions they always imply, but also on important social and communitarian dynamics, as well as affective and symbolic ones. What remains at stake is the bodily mediation and the value it has for the parents and for those who are born and will have to grow up.
