A book classification system based on global information extracted from the book cover is presented. The system can be viewed as a solution of a more general task: classification of flat and structured objects. It works through the following phases: object acquisition, object localization, features values computation and matching to the objects stored in a data base. Each phase is explained for the books recognition problem. The ability of the system to recognize a book in a set of about 430 books is illustrated in the experimental results section.

Abstract
A book classification system based on global information extracted from the book cover is presented. The system can be viewed as a solution of a more general task: classification of flat and structured objects. It works through the following phases: object acquisition, object localization, features values computation and matching to the objects stored in a data base. Each phase is explained for the books recognition problem. The ability of the system to recognize a book in a set of about 430 books is illustrated in the experimental results section.File in questo prodotto:
