The article sheds light onto the large spectrum of the healing methods adopted by medici-physici in the sixteenth century and explores the philosophical-scientific reasons of their therapeutics choices. The learned therapeutics was based on direct experiences of physicians, who produced medicines on their own, as well as on the ancient and medieval medical literature. Furthermore, curative remedies were tightly connected with other areas of knowledge, such as the ars prognosticandi and the farm tradition. Christian faith and magical thinking took a major role in recovery processes too.
