A first prototype of an electro-optical nose has been designed, assembled and tested. This new system is made up of a matrix of silicon integrated photodiodes (the transducers), coated by different thin films of metalloporphyrins (used as chemically interactive material - CIM), and of a blue LED light source with an emission peak centred aorund 450 nm, the spectral region of the main absorption band of the CIM.

Abstract

A first prototype of an electro-optical nose has been designed, assembled and tested.
