In this paper 1 we present and analyze a method of sense tagging which considers bigger units than words, namely phrases. We show that the senses of the individual words in certain phrases are correlated and the respective words are in a particular type of relationships which acts like a chain process. On the basis of the unambiguous phrases, properties of lexical features responsible word disambiguation are found. The tagging guidelines are given in accordance with these properties.
