Reliability is an essential quality requirement for Embedded Systems, especially for those that are life critical, which need to contain mechanisms to react properly to malfunctions of system parts. An approach that is usually applied to increase reliability consists in integrating additional redundant components that take over in case of failure of the primary ones. In this work, we face specifically the problem of optimally allocate redundancy to system components.
