The RGB-HD SiPM technology, recently developed at FBK, features high Photo Detection Efficiency (PDE) combined with small cell size, which, in turn, translates into low correlated noise. For example, independent measurements carried out on samples with a 20 µm cell, show a PDE close to 50% and an Excess Noise Factor (ENF) of 1.25. Such characteristics are very promising for both energy and timing measurements with scintillators. In this work, we present a new 32x32 mm2 detector tile, composed of 8x8 single RGB-HD SiPMs, having a regular 4 mm pitch in all directions. The fill factor of the tile is 86 %. The SiPM cell size is 25 µm, corresponding to 22000 cells per detector and assuring good linearity. Two versions of the tile have been developed, one with single-ended and the other with differential readout. In this work, we show the electrical characterization of the tiles as well as preliminary energy and timing measurements with a single LYSO scintillator coupled to single SiPMs in different positions of the tiles.
