This paper describes a new symbolic model checker, called NuSMV, which is the result of a joint project between CMU and IRST. NuSMV was designed to be reliably used in technology transfer activities, for the verification of industrial designs and as a core for custom verification tools. This is achieved by realizing a robust open architecture for model checking, which can be extended and specialized, and can thus be used as a testbed for formal verification techniques, and applied to other research areas
